Hi all,

I am trying to do some automaton mouse clicking actions with selenium in
firefox 32bit(with an OS of windows7 64bit), since I want to use the google
earth plug-in.)
However, in the Firefox version I have tried, the webdriver 2.53.0 is not
compatible with any of them( including FF 27, 40, 43, 46,47 and the latest
48 of course.)
I also tried to delete the profile of them at the later tries, but still
none of them are working.

I am wondering if I simply just missed something, or if there is any good
combination of selenium and FF(32bit) version suggested,
Any alternatives would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,

colin

Colin,
Why don't you use latest selenium jar i.e 3.0.0-beta2 and FF version 46/47
with geckodriver 10.0?

Hi Aniket,

Thanks for the suggestion.
I just upgraded the selenium python bindings to 3.0.0b2 and am now testing
with firefox(32bit) 46.0.1.

I am trying to run the code to test the geckodriver 0.10.0 with the code
below:
from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.common.desired_capabilities import
DesiredCapabilities

firefox_capabilities = DesiredCapabilities.FIREFOX
firefox_capabilities['marionette'] = True
firefox_capabilities['binary'] = 'C:\Program Files\Python35\'

browser = webdriver.Firefox(capabilities=firefox_capabilities)
browser.get('http://seleniumhq.org/')

I tried to add and remove the "geckodriver.exe" in the path.
Without the specific executable I got a error end with

selenium.common.exceptions.WebDriverException: Message: permission denied

With the executable I got it running forever without even error information.
I also tried to check if the geckodriver.exe is properly set in my
environmental path, but when I tried to run the executable again I got a
forever waiting without error.

Did I do something wrong with install the geckodriver?

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear.

Thanks!

Hi Colin,

Geckodriver.exe would work from Firefox version 48. It doesn't work for
Firefox version 47 and before.

I have tried using Geckodriver.exe with Selenium 3.0 Beta2 and Firefox
48.0.1, and it worked perfectly well for me. I didn't get the error that
you mentioned.

You can check this article for the code that I had used for launching FF -

Hi Anish,

Thanks for the help. Finally I got my script working according to the
setups you mentions.(Actually I use another computer and it works
immediately...).
Since I am using python2.7, maybe the version of python is also related to
the fact of whether it would works.

Anyway, Thanks everyone for the reply!

best,
colin
